3 Amazon Listing Mistakes Sellers Make (But You Won’t)

Product listing on Amazon has a direct correlation with sales. If you’ve done the job properly, you will enjoy higher visits, more conversion and boosted revenue. But do it wrong and even when you’re offering a great collection of products, you will fail or get a narrow escape of marginal profit.

So, needless to say, it’s important to get your Amazon listing correct. And the easiest way to do is to actively combat the common mistakes many sellers make.

Here are 3 common listing mistakes Amazon sellers make but you won’t after reading this:

1. Scrappy product descriptions

The product description is the most important copy here. Sadly, even then, many sellers get it wrong. Just putting up the specifications of your products in this box doesn’t help. Not only do you need to be thorough in explaining what this product is, what it does, and how it works—you also need to be exceptionally engaging throughout. Of course, it would do well if you have a good writing skill. However, even if you don’t, you can still shell out a nice copy of product description. The 3 key components of these are:

  • Engagement
  • Information
  • Empath (you understand the problems and needs of your target customers)

Focus on these components when writing the product descriptions and you would just be fine.

2. Skipping ‘Key Product Features’

For whatever reason, many sellers simply skip updating the ‘Key Product Features’ box; maybe they believe just product descriptions are adequate. Regardless, ‘key product features’ have their own set of benefits and they are very important. In short and crisp manner, they outline what this product offers and what exact benefits would the buyers get. There are many prospects who won’t necessarily read the clustered, paragraph product descriptions. This ‘Key Product Features’ can easily glue and engage them; and if done correctly, the conversion would be just as easy. So, don’t even think of missing this section. Write all the important features of the products, as well as the benefits the buyers would get; write, even if you look repetitive.

3. Screwing multi-channel integration

There are many multi-channel sellers who try to list their products on Amazon, as well as other channels, at the same time. And this screws the process because individual platforms have different guidelines/rules that require individual attention. They rely on some poor third-party solution that fails to meet the required needs. For the starters, if you have multiple storefronts, find out and sign up for a good multi-channel e-commerce solution provider. Once done, follow their instructions and integrate all your channels together – be it Amazon eBay or Jet.com Magento. If the process is done well, you would be able to do multi-channel integration seamlessly without screwing your Amazon listing.

These are 3 Amazon product listing mistakes many sellers make. If you’re one of them, stop and fix them. Simple steps like these can increase your Amazon sales and revenue easily.
